Professor Tlou is an expert resource scholar in the field of regional integration, who has conducted extensive research on regional economic groupings, particularly the all-important gender dimension.
She has also done considerable research in capacity building of non-state actors to effectively engage in public policy dialogue and deliberation, in order to strengthen democratic processes.
Professor Tlou has for many years effectively handled undergraduate and graduate courses on Regional Integration, International Relations, Gender, and African Politics at the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and Longwood University in the United States; and in Ghana at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Centre (KAIPTC) and Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC).
Professor Tlou is a former director of the citizen capacity development unit at the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), based in Accra, Ghana. She is also the pioneering Coordinator of the Governance Issues Forum (GIF), a mechanism for institutionalising civic participation in policy dialogue throughout the administrative regions of Ghana.
